Sam Wright

    Regional Business Manager

Before joining Valley Seeds in January 2006 Sam Wright had roles in farm management, contract spraying and pasture agronomy advice. He had also owned and managed a farm supplies business in Yea for 12 years.

These experiences prepared him perfectly for his job at Valley Seeds, where he provides agronomy advice and supplies seed to farmers and retailers throughout Eastern Victoria and Tasmania.

“I like to establish and develop strong working relationships, with rural stores and farmers that I have met, through promoting and selling Valley Seeds varieties and pasture mixes. Seeing success achieved and the follow up gives me great satisfaction.”

Sam believes that Valley Seeds is making an important and valuable contribution to the breeding and production of seed varieties suited to varying Australian conditions.

“The most surprising things I’ve learned are how complex it is and how long it takes to create a variety.

“From the initial selection of a seed, it can take seven to eight years before the variety becomes a productive pasture in the farmers paddock.”
