Evoke is a tetraploid annual ryegrass and has been selected for improved later season growth whilst still producing high quality feed through winter and spring.

Evoke combines annual and Italian ryegrass genetics which gives this variety the ability to establish quickly, produce high quality winter feed and hold onto quality later in the season.

Suitable for sheep, beef and dairy.

Seedling Vigour

Gets up above weeds quickly, does well warm & cool soils.

Growing Conditions

PADDOCK PREPARATIONS, SOWING & MAINTAINENCE

Best sown into a shallow (5-15mm), seedbed but can be direct drilled.

Use a roller or harrows for good seed-soil contact and improved germination rates.

The use or herbicides prior to sowing can alleviate competition from weeds.

Prepare by soil testing for fertility.

Ensure adequate P,K & S levels.

GRAZING MANAGEMENT

Rotational grazing is recommended as it allows the plant to maximise leaf production. Grazing should be from 10-15cm -down to 2-3 cm. Avoid grazing stressed plants

This grazing and rest approach maximises leaf production ,results in more tillers per plant , more expansive root systems and improved plant survival.

NITROGEN FERTILITY MANAGEMENT

Strategic nitrogen application increases growth.

Apply in late autumn.

For best results apply between 25-50 kg N/ha. In this range, dry matter will accumulate as nitrogen rate increases.

Apply to actively to growing pasture.

General rule: a minimum of 50mm of plant available water is needed to support nitrogen responses.
