It has a winter activity of 7, and a high leaf-to-stem ratio, presenting more like a semi-winter dormant variety.


This cultivar has an excellent insect & disease package against key insect pests and phythophora root rot. A good dual purpose solution, suitable for both grazing and the production of high-quality hay.


V74 has an improved leaf-to-stem ratio demonstrating strong summer growth and vigorous recovery from cutting or grazing. V74 is a standout choice among winter active 7 lucerne options.

PADDOCK PREPARATIONS, SOWING & MAINTAINENCE

Prepare by soil testing for fertility pH range of 5.5-7.5 (CaCl2) lime
if required. Ensure adequate P,K & S levels.

Maintain fertility on hay removal (each tonne will remove) 2.8 kg Phosphorus, 22 kg Potassium & 2.8 kg Sulfur.

Ensure soil is well drained. Create a firm, fine seedbed, control weeds with pre-emergent herbicide.

Shallow sow lucerne through drilling or dropping, cover with a roller or harrows ensuring good seed-soil contact.

GRAZING MANAGEMENT

Rotational grazing. Prevent long term set stocking.

Let lucerne flower for root replenishment.

Offer roughage to livestock during high risk times during lush and immature growth.

Consider using bloat oil & maintain 5-in-1 vaccination program.
