Fastfeed is a forage ryecorn that is ideal for late autumn and early winter feed when sown early. With rapid germination and establishment, Fastfeed provides bulk feed in winter when it is needed most. Faster out of the ground and quicker to first grazing compared to oats when there is a poor autumn break. Can also be used as a green manure crop.
Suitable for all livestock types.
|Paddock preparations||Can be direct drilled or sown into cultivated seedbed. Cultivate seed bed if ground is uneven.|
|Sowing depth||Moderately Deep (10-25mm) can be sown deeper where moisture is lacking.|
|Weed control||A weed free seedbed allows for better establishment results. The use of herbicides prior to sowing can alleviate competition from weeds. Speak to your local agronomist for herbicide recommendations.|
|Fertilizer||The use of fertiliser at sowing will improve the establishment and yield of the stand.|
|Grazing management||Ryecorn should not be grazed until adequately anchored (cannot not be pulled out easily). Begin grazing early to encourage tillering and prevent the seed head emerging. If left too long before grazing the seed head will emerge and quality will be lost. Suited to both rotational or set stocking. Where set-stocking, attention must be paid stocking rate to allow recovery and re-growth of ryecorn.|
