Roper – Australian Bred
Roper is a vigorous winter and early spring producing perennial ryegrass with excellent performance in the temperate pastoral regions (ie. greater than 635 mm rainfall). In Victoria Roper has shown to produce excellent late winter and early spring growth, particularly just prior to cutting hay.
Suited primarily to sheep or beef production Roper exhibits excellent palatability due to reduced lignin levels and nilendophyte status (no grass staggers or production loss due to sub-clinical effects of endophyte). Rotational grazing should be implemented to enable the best utilisation of Roper. As with most ryegrasses, ensure that when grazing there is approximately 2-4 cm (1-2 inches) left to enable the plant to recover properly.
